Thank you to the team today was a great fun day, surveying the seagrass beds at portmellon, centre seagrass starting at 8m deep to max 17m deep survey at 11mThe right hand seagrass from 6-8m deep to max 15m. Seems it is both eelgrass but the right hand patch has seagrass anemones on the stems but not the centre seagrass, these beds almost touch. Centre seagrass in the thick part is about 1m long the right hand seagrass 0.5-0.75m long. We took samples looking at salinity, ph, and nitrate values. The project is for fun and we are looking at why is it where it is and at that depth, as most seagrass 3-6m max. Is it anything todo with the river and sewage or farm nitrates, feeding the beds. Day 1 has given us some figures but lots more samples to be done, low tide, after a sewage release etc etc. Again thank you to all that joined, Maya, Dan, Ethan,Adam, Cathy. (The divers) And Jared our great boat captain. Then Justin and myself did testing of the samples to keep things upto date. And of cause Brian who did a great job as shore cover again for us for the great interested volunteer team. Lots of homework now to be done. ... See MoreSee Less
