If you don’t get to see the seals joining you in the sea, please do not interact, if they come to see you whilst scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming etc it’s a great experience but please don’t go looking for the seals, then the seal sanctuary is a great place to visit to see these great animals and help support their great work along with BDMLR, Seal Research Trust, marine stranding network, etc etc.Respect the seals and give them space, report a sighting of disturbance or entanglement, please don’t use hooped frizby just solid ones on the beach. A bit of marine ecology two crabs having a hug lots about today and the sea is still flat which is great news. And on the intertidal rocks a Pacific oyster, one of many, slowly spreading over the left hand rocky reef at Portmellon, time for another control exercise soon before this invasive species spreads to far. Portmellon with its wildlife, marine life in the sea and rock pools, subtidal seagrass beds out in the bay up to 18m deep at the far edge is such a great place for beach goers, snorkelers and of cause scuba divers anyone interested in marine biology, science or zoology it’s a great place to study as safe from currents. ... Glad they where found, but why don’t divers prepare, light bright colours not black hoods, radar reflective parts on bcd and or hood, plb, diver flare , dsmb with torch to act a light sabre etc etc all covered in RNLI sea survival course a speciality run by most dive agencies, if your interested let us know. Viewpoint Diving is still proud that we ran the course for the RNLI marketing people so they could get photos and see what we had put together.
