PADI Open Water Diver

This course is PADI’s primary diving accreditation, which enables divers to dive anywhere in the World to a depth of 18 meters or less (12 meters if under 12) with a buddy of similar or greater qualification and experience, hire and buy equipment and join PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Speciality courses.

Our course consists of four main phases:

  • Knowledge development either in the classroom or through independent study, with five knowledge reviews to complete
  • Confined Water Dives in a local pool to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives from a nearby shore

The course takes four days during which dives are mixed with knowledge development to give a varied and exciting experience for all ages.

All equipment and course materials are provided.

Those under 15 years old will be accredited as PADI Junior Open Water Divers and will automatically be upgraded to PADI Open Water Dive when they reach 15 (certification cards are not automatically upgraded).

Age Range

To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with SCUBA diving is required. Parental approval is required for participants under 18.

Prerequisites

You must be able to swim at least 50 meters and be in fair health.

If you already have a PADI SCUBA Diver qualification, please note that you will need to bring all of your PADI SCUBA Diver course materials with you, otherwise we will need to supply a replacement set at an additional price of £80.00.
